INFO FOR STUDENTS
This is it. The chance to make a mini-movie about your life and describe who you are in the process. Think of those epic movies where the main character’s life plays out against a backdrop of war, plague, social injustice, economic upheaval, natural disaster. Well, for better or for worse, this is your world today and you are the main character. So capture it for posterity but mostly, capture it for yourself. And if you are so inclined, turn it into a THIS IS ME film that you can use for university, scholarship, or job applications. And submit it to the THIS IS ME international film festival in May where you can bond with other kids from around the world doing the same thing.
What to expect?
Less than thirty questions over three pre-recorded verbal journaling sessions. Takes 90 minutes in all to capture the footage. Then the rest is up to you. It’s personal, it’s profound, it’s private- just for you unless you decide to share it. Leave your mark, speak your truth. Your Voice Needs to be heard.
The three verbal journaling sessions are to be done on-line, at home or in some other private space. An internet connection is needed. After recording, you will receive their verbal time capsules as links in a follow-up email or you can get them on the THIS IS ME website. You will have a unique password to access your private verbal journals. In addition to providing an opportunity for reflection, the verbal journals also provide a e-Bottle time capsule for you to refer back to at later stages of their lives. They are also the foundation for the THIS IS ME International Film Festival if you decide to take part in it.
Your teacher or a counselor at school may also use THIS IS ME in your classroom to help get to know you better and to build classroom community. Good luck!
